Re: Is there any evidence that the Utah divorce education and orientation courses are doing any good?
To Whom It May Concern:
Has the Administrative Office of the Courts, or any other agency, conducted any scientific/empirical research that shows the statutorily mandated divorce education and orientation courses (Utah Code §§ 30-3-11.3 and 11.4) are doing any good? And by any good, I mean by any reasonable standard?
Do the statutorily mandated divorce education and orientation courses:
- materially and measurably reduce the number of divorces?
- materially and measurably reduce the frequency and/or severity of parental conflict?
- materially and measurably reduce the frequency and/or severity of domestic violence crime?
- materially and measurably expedite the resolution of child custody disputes in pending divorce actions?
- materially and measurably benefit the children of divorcing couples?
- provide unique sources of information, guidance, and other benefits that only the statutorily mandated divorce education and orientation courses can provide?
- provide unique sources of information, guidance, and other benefits that only the statutorily mandated divorce education and orientation courses can provide for less money than other sources of the same or similar information, guidance, and benefits including, but not limited to, free and less expensive sources of such information, guidance, and benefits?
If so, how may I obtain these data?
Sincerely,
Utah Family Law, LC
