- Set an example of being a conscientious law-abiding citizen yourself. “Do as I say, not as I do” is not the way to set a good example. Read “Sermons We See” for a beautiful statement of this principle.
- Teach your children the purpose, proper function of, and appreciation for the rule of law. Teach them the difference between rule of law and anarchy. Teach them the difference between “let your conscience be your guide” and “malum prohibitum”.
- Teach your children that your basic human rights of life, liberty, and private property are God-given, not government-given, and that the government cannot deprive you of your rights without due process of law (i.e., a chance to argue your case and have it heard and decided fairly).
