Sometimes, but rarely, does it make sense to hire a divorce lawyer who does an excellent job with the legal work but who bankrupts you as a result.
Don’t get me wrong: skilled lawyers aren’t obligated to charge what you want to pay (or even what you can afford without feeling what my mom called “silver cramps”), but you should be able to find an attorney who can do the job you need (need, not necessarily want) at a price you can afford without it ruining you financially.
